1850s -1860s HIGH QUALITY BIG BORE PERCUSSION PISTOL WITH CAPTIVE RAMROD, POSSIBLY A MILITARY OFFICERS PERSONAL GUN ? 14 1/4" LONG WITH 9" OCTAGON DAMASCUS BARREL STILL SHOWING GOOD PATTERN, BORE MEASURES .65, BRIGHT WITH SOME MINOR PITTING MIDWAY THAT SHOULD POLISH OUT. BREACH IS FINELY ENGRAVED WITH SOLID GOLD BAND AND BLOW-OUT PLUG. MONOGRAM PLATE APPEARS TO BE GOLD AS WELL. LOCK WORKS EXCELLENT, CRISP & ROBUST MARKED "SMITH" "LONDON" ALSO FINELY ENGRAVED. SOLID SILVER ENGRAVED MOUNTS WITH BIRMINGHAM HALLMARKS ON TRIGGER GUARD AND LION HEAD BUTTCAP ("WJ" - QUEENS HEAD - LION - ANCHOR & M DATE LETTER) .
