Description:
For your consideration, a Smith & Wesson model 60 chambered in .38 Special. The model 60 was the first ever commercial stainless steel firearm. Of particular interest, this revolver bears the "NY-1" and silhouette target stamps indicating NYPD issuance. ~4,000 of this model were acquired by the NYPD from 1987-89. This example's serial number falls within the known range of the 1,232 guns returned to S&W by the Equipment Bureau after the model 60 was withdrawn from service. While originally DAO in its service days, S&W reconfigured these ex-NYPD guns as DA/SA before selling them on the private market. This piece dates to 1987. .38 Special
