Description: Known to be one of the most durable and reliable handguns in modern firearms history, the Heckler & Koch Universal Self-Loading Pistol, or USP, it a polymer-framed hammer-fired semi-automatic pistol designed with hard use in mind. Designed in the late 1980s, German company Heckler & Koch first developed and won the United States SOCOM offensive handgun contract with the large Mark 23 pistol, chambered in .45 Auto. Following the winning of the contract, H&K then followed the MK23 with the USP in the early '90s, tailored more towards law enforcement contracts and civilian defensive use. The USP was built on a new smaller polymer frame with steel reinforcements and specifically designed around firing the .40 Smith & Wesson cartridge—the new standard service caliber for most law enforcement agencies at the time. Rival companies' offerings in .40 S&W had a tendency to become damaged with the aggressive recoil impulse of .40 S&W. Much of the USP's success rate with this caliber can be attributed to its unique recoil spring assembly—a buffed recoil spring that is mated to the barrel and placed between the frame and locking block with dual springs. An early version of a modular firing control group is also included in the design of the USP; moreso, the trigger action can be modified with different parts to change its operation between double/single-action, double-action only, and H&K's special LEM double/single-action trigger. Depending on the submodel, other features such as ambidextrous controls and hammer styles may also vary. This firearm for sale is a .40 S&W-chambered V1 model—a double/single-action model with manual safety/decocker lever mounted on the left side of the frame. The barrel measures 4" in length and features polygonal rifling. The sights are fixed dovetail sights with a three white dot sight picture. The front and back straps of the pistol have pyramid-style checkering—a standard inclusion on all H&K USPs. The magazine release is a European-style paddle/lever design integrated into the trigger guard. This pistol in in excellent condition, but does exhibit a notable amount of finish wear on the barrel's and barrel hood's surfaces. The pistol, however, is very clean and in excellent operating condition. This USP V1 includes two OEM 13-round magazines, user manual, and factory hard case. .40 S&W SOLD Chambers: .40 Smith & Wesson Metal Condition: Good Bore Condition: Very good Barrels: 4 Triggers: Double/single-action Fore End: Universal accessory rail Weight: 1 LB 13 OZ Sights: Fixed dovetailed white 3-dot sights Item Location: Kearney, NE |
