Description:
"Serial No. 4442177, made late 1943, .30 Carbine, 18" round barrel marked “INLAND MFG / GENERAL MOTORS / 2-44", indicating an Inland-produced replacement barrel. Receiver was produced by Union Switch & Signal under the rarely seen ""UN-QUALITY"" subcontractor designation, making this one of the scarcer receiver variations in the M1 Carbine production family. Fitted with a bayonet lug barrel band marked “jm", the rifle retains its flat bolt, and features a Type II milled adjustable rear sight, which is unmarked correct for many postwar upgrades. The low wood potbelly stock is in excellent condition, and bears a distinct “FAT / 75" cartouche, denoting production or refurbishment by Fabbrica Armi Terni (FAT) in 1975 for postwar use by the Italian Carabinieri. Overall condition is excellent, showing minimal wear and clean metal surfaces. This carbine combines a rare U.S. wartime receiver with a postwar European stock.
