The Thompson/Center Venture was Thompson/Center’s affordable, bolt-action hunting rifle introduced in the 2000s as a value-oriented competitor to pricier lines. Built with a focus on practical hunting and varmint use, the Venture typically features a free-floated barrel, reliable extractor, and a durable synthetic stock option — giving good out-of-the-box accuracy at a reasonable price.
The .204 Ruger cartridge — introduced by Ruger and Hornady in 2004 — is a high-velocity, small-caliber centerfire designed primarily for varmint and small-game hunting. It fires a .204-inch diameter bullet at high muzzle velocities, producing a very flat trajectory and mild recoil, which many shooters prefer for varmint work and long-range small-target precision.
