Rare PRE WAR configured Winchester Model 70 Super Grade in 220 Swift caliber.
S/N 34085 with matching scribed bolt made in 1941.
An absolutely beautiful rifle, clearly demonstrating the supreme quality and workmanship Pre War 70s are well known for.
An early period Weaver 330 rifle scope has been added, which required additional mounting holes in the breech end of barrel and rear receiver bridge. The scope has bright and scratch free glass, with a tapered post reticle. Low profile filler plugs were placed in the barrel's front and rear sight dovetails for a clear visual path.
The overall condition of the original finishes remains excellent for its age, rated at least 96% on average. The wood is bright and glowing with minimal marks, limited mostly to the surface coat of lacquer on the wood. Nothing deep or distracting, especially under normal light. The blue on barreled action is superb at 98%, with bottom metal and buttplate showing some light oxidation and wear.
The 26" stainless steel barrel has a minty bore and throat with no visible wear. The muzzle face is correctly "in the white". All mechanical functions are perfectly smooth and crisp.
The correct and rare style pre war detachable swivels with their concave shoulders are included.
