Pre War Savage Model 29 22" Octagon Barrel in near mint condition. Barrel blue, frame and stocks with 99% original factory finishes. The bore is excellent showing no appreciable wear. Deluxe checkering is sharp. The wood is perfect with no cracks or repairs. Action is tight with no looseness in barrel or action. Screws are perfect. This rifle has the original standard front leaf sight and standard rear elevator sight.
This particular gun, Serial No. 149139 L, was produced near the end model 29 production, probably in 1938-39. As such it has the improved, and desirable, 4th type Hi-Speed lifter and Hi-Speed Bolt designs. It also sports the rare Savage No. 30 tang peep sight with aperture.
The combination of these features, along with the high percentages of original finishes, make this gun a true collector quality Savage 29.
