Colt Series 70 1911 in .45 ACP built and customized for bullseye and target competition.
The superb work on this pistol was done in 1989 by Fred Sadowski of 300 Gunsmith in Denver, Colorado. In its era this was a nationally recognized, highly regarded shop. The gentleman who commissioned the gun fired a box of ammo through it, then put it away until today.
The included letter from 300 Gunsmith details the work:

• Safari Arms ambi safety
• Safari Arms beavertail grip safety
• Wilson extended slide stop
• Colt checkered mainspring housing
• Mason target trigger
• Pachmayr stocks
• Checkered front strap
• Electroless nickel on frame
• Slide is a Colt Series 70 and barrel is a Colt National Match
