Description:
This is a scarce Model 92 Winchester Short Rifle in .44-40. According to Madis in “The Winchester Book,” only one in every 850 Model 1892s produced was a Short Rifle. This one has all the right features. Barrel is 20 inch octagonal. Caliber stamp moved from top to side flat of barrel to allow rear sight to be set back. Forestock is the correct 8.75 inches. Overal condition is Good. No original finish remains. Scattered light pitting on barrel. Stocks are solid, with nicks, small chips and minor areas of some filler. Bore is about Good Plus with scattered pitting. Action is crisp and tight. Has a carbine rear sight, missing elevator, which may be a special order. Overall a decent example of a scarce gun. $1400 + Shipping. Ships to C&R or FFL.
