The Extar EP9 is a lightweight and affordable pistol caliber carbine (PCC) known for its reliability and compatibility with widely available Glock 9mm magazines. It is available in both a pistol version (with a 6.5\" barrel) and a carbine version (with a 16.25\" barrel). A .45 ACP version, the EP45, is also offered.

Materials and weight: The EP9 is primarily constructed from high-quality polymer, which makes the pistol version weigh around 4 lbs and the carbine version around 5 lbs. It is designed to be lightweight for ease of handling.
Operating system: The EP9 uses a direct blowback system combined with a proprietary recoil dampening system to reduce felt recoil and mitigate bolt bounce.
Magazine compatibility: Both the pistol and carbine versions are compatible with double-stack Glock 9mm magazines, including the G17 and G19 models. It will not accept G26 or G43/43x/48 magazines.
Controls and ergonomics: The EP9 features controls reminiscent of the AR platform, including an AR-style magazine release and safety selector. The charging handle is non-reciprocating on the pistol version and reciprocating on the carbine model, and is located on the side of the receiver.
Customization: The EP9 is compatible with many aftermarket AR-15 parts, including pistol grips, fire control groups, and stocks on the carbine version. It also includes an M-LOK handguard and a Picatinny-style top rail for mounting accessories.
Lubrication: Extar advises against lubricating the firearm, as the BlackNitride+ finish on the bolt and barrel provides enough lubricity for reliable operation.
