Description:
The M1903 rifle is a 5 round magazine-fed bolt-action service rifle with a 24" barrel. This "RA" example remains in very good condition with minimal wear. The top of the receiver is marked "U.S. / REMINGTON / MODEL 1903 / 3245111". The top of the barrel is marked "R A / flaming bomb / 9 – 42" and the bottom of the barrel is marked "P". The safety is marked "SAFE READY" and the magazine cutoff is marked "ON OFF" with an "R". The bottom of the bolt handle is marked "42". The right rear of the bolt body, safety lever, nose cap, front sight base, magazine cutoff lever are marked "R" for Remington. The front sling band is marked "U". The left side of the stock, above the trigger, is marked with the "crossed cannons" cartouche and an inspector cartouche, "FJA in a box". The bottom of the wrist has a circled "P" stamp and the bottom of the forend has four stampings in front of the floorplate "triangle 2, circle 7, square 45, circle 25. The front sight is a pinned blade atop a mounted base. The rear sight is a "U" notched blade attached to an adjustable sight ladder marked from "3-27". When flipped up separate notches and an aperture on the ladder can be used for sighting.. The two-piece oil-finished wood stock has a straight grip, metal nose cap with bayonet lug, stacking loop, two barrel bands, two sling loops, two reinforcing pins, and a metal buttplate with a hinged door.
