Union Switch & Signal (US&S) was initially contracted in 1942 to make 200,000 m1911a1 pistols but was later reduced to only 55,000. The last of the pistols left the plat in November 1943. This pistols serial number places it in the first 2000 they produced this being 1 of only 55,000 make this the second most rare wartime m1911a1 next to the only 500 Singer Sewing Machine Company made. This Beautiful pistol in amazing shape considering its age. None
