Description:
"Serial No. K6372, manufactured circa 1916, 22" round barrel. Often referred to as “the rifle that saved Paris," the Belgian Model 1889 Mauser played a crucial role during World War I, especially in the defense of Belgium during the German invasion of 1914. This example bears a 1916-dated stock cartouche, placing its manufacture at the height of the Great War. The serial numbers are matching throughout, and the rifle retains traces of its original blued finish, now turning to a smooth brown patina. Light oxidation is visible on the bolt. The stock shows expected field wear, including two visible cracks at the wrist that extend partially around the receiver. Despite this, the stock remains structurally sound. A faint Belgian military cartouche is still visible on the right side of the stock. The action is smooth and functions correctly, making this a solid example of a WWI-era Belgian service rifle.
