Description:
David McKay Brown round body 28 gauge. Made in Scotland well prior to the company's acquisition and consigned by the estate of the original owner, serial 7722 has 29-inch barrels (rust blued, fixed M/M, hand-filed solid rib with single bead, ejectors). Features include an automatic safety and a single inertia trigger. STOCK: Crafted from an outstanding exhibition Turkish blank set, the forearm wears wrap checkering while the open grip has generous panels - all with partially-Mullered borders. A toe line oval (engraved “JBC”), serrated butt plate and a hand-rubbed oil finish complete the appointments. ENGRAVING: Creative Art executed an intricate leaf and vine design flowing from the mouths of mythological deities and creatures to full coverage. DIMENSIONS: Weight is 6.2 pounds. Length-of-pull is 14.65 inches, drops are 1.35 and 2.20 inches, and cast off is approximately .35-inch. CONDITION: The bores and chambers are bright. Barrels are full on face and ring like cathedral bells. The lever rests just right of center, ejectors pop with enthusiasm and trigger pulls are crisp. Barrel bluing is approximately 90 percent, the adjustment from an area of discoloration/rust at the front left edge of the forearm (likely blood or possibly exposure to other caustics). The tip of the forearm release shows evidence of this same exposure. The action is approximately 97 percent with tack-sharp engraving and a hint of tarnish in the scallops. Wood is at least 98 percent. No case or papers. The price is firm and layaway is available. $35,000 plus shipping.
