Description:
Entering the market in late 2010, the Ruger SR40 is a full-sized striker-fired polymer-frame semi-automatic pistol chambered in .40 Smith & Wesson. With the .40S&W caliber being common use with U.S. law enforcement agencies, the SR40 was built with many features that would be useful for such a purpose, though the pistol is also an excellent choice for civilian shooters. In fact, many of the SR40's features are very similar to the popular Springfield Armory XD-series. The SR40 is one of the later entries of Ruger's SR-series of pistols, preceded by the SR9 9mm-chambered guns. The pistol features a quite slim and comfortable grip for a full-size pistol in .40 S&W with molded fine checkering on the side panels and front strap. The backstrap is made of rubber with a serrated texture. The gun has a capable 4" barrel and is equipped with 3-dot white iron sights: the front sight is dovetailed and fixed, while the rear sight is also dovetailed to the slide and is adjustable. The pistol is fairly ambidextrous-friendly, with an ambidextrous magazine release and thumb safety levers. However, the slide release is still only on the left side of the frame. Putting safety first, the pistol has ambidextrous manual thumb safeties as well as a trigger blade-style safety, internal striker safety devices, a loaded chamber indicator on the top of the slide, and a striker status indicator on the slide's backplate. The trigger is somewhat heavy, but has a very short pretravel and extremely crisp break. The reset is also impressive and has no takeup after the trigger resets—a really quite impressive trigger for such a budget-friendly pistol! The flush-fitting SR40 magazines can hold a capacity of 15 rounds. This piece is in excellent condition with very clean internals and external condition. The pistol includes two OEM steel 15-round magazines and a magazine loader. No box or case is included with this firearm. .40 S&W
