Description:
Marlin Model 1895SS lever action rifle. The left shoulder of the barrel is marked "THE MARLIN FIREARMS CO. — NORTH HAVEN, CT. U.S.A. / MOD. 1895SS MICRO-GROOVE BARREL CAL. 45/70 GOVT." and is also marked with a "JM" proof at the rear. The right shoulder of the barrel is marked with Marlin's two-line warning. The upper tang is marked with the serial number. This is a "New Model" Marlin Model 1895SS lever action rifle made with a 22" round barrel and two-thirds length magazine tube. The original Model 1895 rifle ceased production in 1915, and was upgraded and brought back into production in 1972. The barrel is chambered in .45-70 Govt. This one looks like it's had some use. Barrel shows some spotting and the stock has some nicks and scratches. Still a solid performer. .45-70 Government

Sights: The front sight is a brass beaded blade that is dovetailed to a serrated riser which is screwed to the barrel. The rear sight is a flip-up semi-buckhorn elevator sight with a U-notch leaf that is dovetailed to the barrel.
