This rifle was manufactured in December 1917. The term "1917 Eddystone" refers to theM1917 Enfield rifle, a US military bolt-action rifle chambered in .30-06 caliber, manufactured by the Eddystone Rifle Works in Pennsylvania during World War I. Eddystone was one of three companies that produced the M1917, and the factory was originally built to produce the British Pattern 1914 rifle before the United States entered the war. The U.S. then modified the P14 design to create the M1917, which became a primary rifle for American troops in WWI.
