ERMA E.L. 24 .22LR adapter for Mauser 98/K98 Rifles.
Manufactured during 1937 for the German Military in the buildup for World War ll
These units are slip in adapters to use .22 rim fire ammunition in military service rifles.
This is a complete kit with matching serial numbers.
It is in excellent condition, it functions as designed.
It comes in its original wooden case.
All markings are legible including proof marks.
The inscription 1/N5.10. is stamped into the receiver.
The bluing is worn on the receiver
The kit includes the "tool" a small drift like pin that is used to lock the unit into the Mauser's receiver locking lug recesses.
To install this unit, remove the rifle's bolt and magazine& floorplae assembly.
Install the kit's floorplae and magazine guide
Slide the barrel assembly into pace and lock the lugs into the receiver. The kits receiver has the same shape and diameter as the rifles bolt. The kits receiver has its own bolt.
insert a loaded five round magazine, work the bolt and fire.
A fading address and return address are in pencil on the box, perhaps a G.I. Mailed it home.
