Description:
Serial #NSN, .40 Caliber Back Powder Percussion, 31 5/8" part octagon part round rifled barrel with a bright excellent bore that has a two inch muzzle extender / protector with partial rifling that fits that barrel with an integral stud and screw in lock. This is an English, Birmingham proofed, half-stock target rifle manufactured by Manton as marked on the side plate. The rifle features a Vernier tang and front target sights. In fine condition as refinished the barrel and action show much of a later added blue with small areas of finish loss toning to plum-brown. The stock has a professionally repaired crack in forend but is otherwise in fine condition with good checkering. The nipple has been replaced and is in excellent condition.
