Zastava M83 – 357 Mag – 4" Barrel – 6 Shot – New Grips – Very Nice Stainless Model
The Zastava M83 revolvers were designed to be sturdy workhorses. Occasionally, you get lucky and find a workhorse that also looks good . . . like this one. Our revolver is an M83/93 model, serial number 55936. The 93 likely indicates production in 1993.
This model was Yugoslavian produced and based on the Smith & Wesson K frame models. The M83 was primarily intended for military and police use and, as such, they’re very solidly made. Pick one up and the all steel frame feels . . . solid. Not heavy, but solid.
There were a variety of finishes and grips on these revolvers. Ours is a stainless finish and has a 4 inch vent rib barrel. The fluted cylinder holds 6 rounds of either 357 Mag or 38 Special. The full lug under the barrel protects and hides the ejector rod. The rear sight is a fixed notch and the front sight is dovetailed in position.
The revolver is a double action model and these had a very good reputation for accuracy . . . in single action mode. The single action trigger is crisp and has no takeup. The double action pull is heavy and you won’t win any accuracy competitions shooting in double action.
The owner installed new grips, replacing the often criticized loose fit of the factory grips.
Condition of the revolver is very nice. The stainless finish is in Very Good condition and we think that you’ll agree after you review the photos. There is a slight bit of light freckling on right side of the frame, between the trigger and the grip. The new grips are in Excellent condition. The bore is Good but could use a good cleaning. The barrel is very bright and the rifling appears to be strong.
If you’re looking for a solidly built 357 revolver that can stand up to the demands that you may place on it, this one is worth a long look. Reasonably priced and in great condition, this one is ready to be a workhorse for you.
