Manufactured by Deutsche Waffen- und Munitionsfabriken (DWM), pre-war examples are especially sought after for their craftsmanship, historical significance, and association with the interwar period leading up to World War II. By 1935, production reflected mature machining quality and traditional finishing methods, making these pistols highly collectible today. Description This 1935 pre-war DWM P08 is a classic example, finished almost entirely in blue with a few contrasting silver-tone accents. The pistol retains matching serial numbers on all visible components except the magazine, which is period-correct but non-matching. It features checkered wood grips and shows honest wear consistent with careful use. The pistol is equipped with a 4-inch tapered barrel displaying a shiny bore and good rifling. The serial number is stamped on the barrel near the frame, with a corresponding number on the frame beside it. The serrated ramp, dovetailed front sight is intact and well-defined. The frame includes a checkered takedown lever, checkered magazine release, and a functional thumb safety marked GESICHERT (“secured”) when in the SAFE position. When engaged, the safety flag moves into view; no marking is visible in the FIRE position. A lanyard loop is present at the rear of the frame, consistent with military configuration. The semi-automatic action is mechanically solid, featuring the characteristic wide, smooth trigger. All visible numbers on the barrel, frame, and action match, reinforcing its collector appeal.
