Payment Types Accepted: money order, bank check, personal check Description: This is a fine as-issued Springfield Model 1795 musket in original flint lock configuration. The musket has all original parts with all the correct original flint lock parts both internally and externally and in fine working condition. The lock ismarked in the center with a script 'US' over a federal eagle with 'Springfield' in an arc under the eagle and with the date '1811' stamped at the tail. The lock markings are crisp with the exception of the last four letters of 'Springfield" worn from cleaning during its period of use. The lock mechanics are extremely tight and crisp. All of the lock screws and internal parts are stamped with a matching 'V' assembly mark. The full length barrel is in exceptional smooth condition with fine 'U.S', V, P, and eagle proof stamps at the breech. The touch hole is in original unmolested condition showing a light aged brown patina there. The breech plug has never been removed. All of the iron mounts are sem-bright gun metal color showing spots of ancient tarnish and scatterd spots of very fine pitting. The buttplate tang is deeply stamped '1811' matching the lock date. The barrel has its original bayonet lug at the muzzle and the .69 caliber smooth bore is clean and bright. The gun retains its original full length ramrod and both sling swivels and comes with its original matching 'US' marked M1795 socket bayonet that fits the gun perfectly and is in the same condition as the gun. The full length dark American walnut stock is also in exceptional condition with crisp edges and contours and retains its original patinaed arsenal applied oil finish. It has not been cleaned or sanded and has a script US inspection stamp on the left flat and a sub-inspection stamp behind the lower trigger guard strap. There is a tiny chip out along the top left of the barrel tang, there is no chipping in the ramrod channel and no cracks or repairs in the stock. Overall this is a very fine example of the War of 1812 issued M1795 Springfield and very hard to find in untouched original condition with its correct issued bayonet.
