Description:
This is a compact, Norwegian-designed bolt-action carbine variant produced under license at Springfield Armory, representing an improved iteration over the earlier Model 1892 with features such as a down-position magazine cut-off, tighter production tolerances for enhanced accuracy, and a cleaning rod stored in the butt trap. This 5-slot repeater utilizes a smooth-operating side-loading hinged magazine gate and was specifically configured for cavalry and mounted troops with an overall length of about 41" and a saddle ring for secure carry. Renowned for its reliable performance and famously issued to Theodore Roosevelt's Rough Riders, during the Spanish-American War, the Model 1896 Krag Carbine served as a key U.S. Military long arm in conflicts including the late Indian Wars and the Philippine-American War before being superseded by the M1903 Springfield. This carbine is in good condition. .30-40 Krag
