Exquisite Black Powder Silver Engraved Remington NM Army Revolver Cased
Offered here and just acquired is this exquisitely engraved black powder reproduction .44 caliver percussion revolver made by the popular firm of Fllipietta of Italy. It is a recreation of the Civil War Model 1858 Old Silver Remington Engraved Black Powder Revolver manufactured by Pietta. The 1858 Remington was one of the major side arms of the Civil War and was the last of the Remington percussion revolvers to be manufactured. This gun features a tapered octagon barrel, white steel frame, brass trigger guard, 6-shot cylinder, fixed sights and two-piece walnut grips.
Of importance to reenactors and black powder shooting enthusiasts this is a STEEL FRAME construction.
Italian manufacturers led by Uberti who was the subcontractor used by Colt for its 1st generation black powder reproductions, firms like Pietta, Euroarms, and Pedersoli began producing detailed black-powder replicas in the 1960s and 1970s. Pietta’s history in this area particularly dates back to the 1960s, when their workshop in Italy started building historical muzzleloaders and revolvers, including the Remington 1858 design.
This highly engraved examples is one of the finest crafted engraved revolvers that we have encountered. The revolver appears to be UNFIRED with only a very slight cylinder turn mark and a couple of storage marks. Most probably an earlier Pietta production it is in a fine walnut presentation felt lined wooded case with accessories. The case has the slightest warp in it (shown in images) but this does not prevent it from closing. It has no key but if desired Pietta keys could be ordered from the company or found on the internet.
