Description: The 1886 is another of John Browning's industry-changing designs. This Winchester 1886 is chambered in 33 WCF with a 24" barrel. The Serial number "143883A" indicates this gun was manufactured in 1907. The top of this Winchesters barrel is marked "MANUFACTURED BY THE WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO. / NEW HAVEN, CONN. U.S.A. PAT. OCT. 14. 1884. / JAN. 20. 1885.". The left side of the barrel under the rear sight is marked "--NICKEL STEEL BARREL-- / ESPECIALLY FOR SMOKELESS POWDER" and at the rear of the barrel is marked "33 W.C.F.".The top tang is marked "MODEL 1886 / --WINCHESTER-- / TRADE MARK". The bottom tang is marked "143883 A" and under the lever is marked with -"PAT OCT. 14. 1884. / JAN. 20. 1885.". The front sight is a Lyman rounded blade dovetailed to a base fixed to the front of the barrel. The rear sight is an adjustable U-notch elevator semi buckhorn rear sight dovetailed to the rear of the barrel. The stocks are two-piece smooth walnut with capped forend, straight grip, straight comb, and a checkered metal Winchester buttplate. The action functions correctly and smoothly. The trigger is crisp and lever locks up tight. The hammer does have a half-cock position. For its age, this Winchester remains in good working shape. .33 WCF SOLD Curio/Relic: Yes Chambers: Lever action. Metal Condition: The receiver shows a trace amount of finish left. The barrel shows the majority of its finish in various stages of aging. The barrel also shows a few light corrosion freckles on the surface. Wood Condition: "The butt stock shows a trophy count carved in the bottom wrist of the stock (see pictures). The stock also shows light and fine ding, cuts, small compression marks scattered on the surfaces, nothing major Bore Condition: Well-defined reflective bore. Barrels: 24" barrel.
