Description: Offered here is an original U.S. Model 1846 percussion musket that was later converted and exported for Russian military use during the mid-19th century. These surplus Harper’s Ferry-pattern muskets were commonly refurbished, painted black, and shipped overseas as Russia purchased large quantities of older American arms during the Crimean War period. This example shows the classic black-painted finish still present on the metal surfaces, along with the correct mid-century American lock profile, brass trigger guard, and long fore-end typical of U.S. percussion muskets. The lockplate shows heavy patina consistent with age, and the stock remains complete with typical handling wear but no major structural cracks. Mechanics appear functional externally but have not been tested with caps. The bore condition is unknown. SOLD Item Location: Michigan |
