SUPERB UNFIRED Winchester Model 62A .22 Pump-Action Rifle C. 1956 W/Original Hang
The Winchester Model 62A is a classic pump-action .22 rifle built by the Winchester Repeating Arms Company, and was produced from about 1940 until the end of production in 1958. The 62A is essentially an updated version of the earlier Model 62, itself part of a long lineage of Winchester .22 slide-action rifles stretching back to the Model 1890 designed by John Browning.
The 62A was the final evolution in this series, with improved internals and longer pump forearm compared to the original 62. It has a standard 23-inch round tapered barrel and chambered .22 Short, .22 Long, and .22 Long Rifle. Slide (pump) action with visible hammer. Tubular magazine under the barrel — capacity typically around 14–20 rounds depending on cartridge type.
Like earlier Winchester slide guns, it’s a take-down rifle .
Because production continued until late 1958, a 1956 rifle is very much part of the late first/only generation of Winchester 62A rifles — which many collectors view as desirable because it’s from near the end of the classic production run.
What makes this model 62A special is that it traces its heritage to the Winchester Model 62, introduced in 1932 as a successor to the 1890 and 1906 pump rifles. The 62A represented the last classic slide-action Winchester .22 before market tastes shifted toward semi-automatics like the Model 63 and modern semi-autos.
A rifle of this vintage in outstanding, nearly unfired condition with its original hang tag dramatically elevates interest and value. Factory tags on Model 62A rifles are uncommon to find intact after nearly 70 years.
