An improved version of the MAS-49. The rifle was shortened, lightened to improve mobility for mechanized and airborne troops, and a combination compensator/grenade launcher was added. Uses a direct impingement gas system. Current PPU ammunition propels a 139 grain FMJ at 2723 fps muzzle velocity and 2286 ft/lbs muzzle energy. 7.5 French
