Description: The Savage 340 was one of the models that was produced to fill the need for low-cost hunting rifles, and somewhat considered a "deer gun" along with the Marlin and Winchester lever action carbines. The 340 were also produced under house labels for a variety of stores like Sears and Western Auto. They were manufactured from hardwood, probably birch, and steel. The stock is a Monte Carlo pattern with deeply impressed skip line checkering..
