About Us: I've collected militaria since age 14; I'm interested in all periods of history and the the conflicts around them; so I have a varied collection. I have an extensive collection of good reference books, to rely on, before purchasing. I try to buy the best pieces that I can reasonably afford; I consider myself a care taker of the items in my possession, until it's time to pass them onto another caretaker. I'm a active duty USMC vet, followed by reserve time with the Ohio Army National Guard as a bridge engineer.

Description:
Presented is a WW1 German KAR 98AZ (Karabiner 98AZ). Produced at the Prussian State Arsenal at Erfurt in 1916. The KAR 98AZ was first intorduced in 1908, intended for specialized troops (cavalary, artillery, storm troops). Although a large number were produced (about 405k) at Erfurt in 1916; most were destroyed in the post war demobilization, or reworked in 1920 for police use. This is the predecsssor for the KAR 98K of the WW2 era.
This gun was not been re-worked, sanded or refinished. It retains the original finish as the wood and metal. All numbers match except the bolt and bolt assembly, which would be expected if ran through an armouer. The only blemish is an aproximate 1x1 mm puncture at the right stock where something sharp hit it. It retains the original sling tab, which is attached to a period sling with a brass buckle; I don't knw if the sling is civilian or military, but it may give some clue to where this weapon was about 1918. I've had it for about 20 years. See see attached photos. I'm asking $1200 for this great weapon, that certainly was "there" in WW1; I'm open to reasonable offers. You need a FFL to recieve. Shipping amount based on your location via UPS.
