For your consideration, the Marlin 1895 lever-action rifle chambered in .45-70 Govt. The 1895 was initially produced from 1895 through 1914. This 1895 is from the production run that started in 1972 through 1984. It is a BO prefix model, which is the beginning of the run manufactured in 1972. It features deep groove rifling that ran only during the first year of production, first 10,000 or so. It also has the straight stock, which was standard in early models and eventually went to the pistol grip stock later. .45-70 Government
