33087-ORIGINAL CIVIL WAR COLT U.S. MODEL 1861 SPECIAL RIFLE MUSKET DATED 1862. 56” o/a with 40” rifled .58 caliber barrel with original front sight and missing rear sight. Lock date stamped to the rear of the hammer “1862” and stamped in front of hammer “U.S./COLTS PT. F.A. MFG. CO./HARTFORD, CT.”. Original except rear lock plate screw and ramrod which are correct modern replacements otherwise all original very good overall. Original metal patina and stock finish. Partially visible Ordnance cartouche on side panel. Barrel with Ordnance proof stamps “V/P/EAGLEHEAD” at left breech. Working order and worn bore. Priced reasonably. $1400.
