Steven’s model 5100 side by side 16 gauge in good condition. Has a couple of small cracks in the stock as you can see in the pictures, otherwise it’s in very good condition.

?? Overview

The Stevens 5100 is a double-barrel, side-by-side (SxS) shotgun built on the Stevens Arms break-action design. It was produced during the early 20th century as part of Stevens’ family of quality sporting guns — essentially an earlier incarnation of what later became known as the Stevens Model 311.

?? Key Characteristics

Gauge: 16 gauge (designed for 2¾" shotgun shells).

Action: Break-open, double-barrel, side-by-side configuration — one of the classic American shotgun formats.

Barrel Length: Often around 26"-28" depending on specific build; common examples list 28" barrels.

Capacity: Holds two shots (one per barrel).

Chokes: Fixed chokes are typical in period guns (e.g., one barrel cylinder bore, the other modified).

Trigger: Double triggers — each barrel has its own trigger, a traditional feature on many early SxS shotguns.

Safety: Often equipped with an automatic safety (engages when opened).

Sights: Simple bead on the rib for aiming.

?? Construction & Finish

Receiver: Typically case-colored or blued steel.

Stock & Forend: Wood (original walnut or similar) with checkering common on many examples.

Finish: Originally blued barrels and case-colored receiver on many versions, with wear depending on age.

?? Historical Notes

The 5100 designation was used during the 1930s and into the early 1940s as part of Stevens’ shotgun lines, and it closely relates to the popular Model 311 family.

Later evolutions of the same basic break-action design were marketed under other Stevens/Springfield model numbers.

?? Typical Use

This shotgun is a sporting/hunting gun — used historically for small game and birds. Its classic styling reflects its era and makes it appealing to collectors, vintage shotgun enthusiasts, and hunters who enjoy traditional firearms
