Description:
The Remington No. 2 Rolling Block is a single-shot shotgun chambered in 20 gauge, featuring a 33-inch barrel and fixed sights. Manufactured between the 1870s and 1890s, this model represents one of Remington’s early rolling block actions configured for small-gauge sporting use. The barrel and receiver are finished in blued steel, paired with a smooth wood straight-grip stock and matching forearm. A smooth metal butt plate completes the assembly, consistent with period construction.
The firearm is used and shows very good antique condition. The bluing on both barrel and frame remains intact for its age, and the wooden furniture has no visible cracks or structural damage. Proof marks are present on the top of the barrel, and the serial number “8964” is stamped on both the barrel and butt plate. The bore condition is described as fair to good, showing some shine with scattered marks typical of age. The rolling block mechanism retains a strong action and tight lockup, reflecting sound mechanical alignment.
Included is the complete firearm as described, with its original wood stock, forearm, and metal butt plate. No additional accessories or modern replacements are noted. All visible markings correspond to Remington’s production from the late nineteenth century, providing clear identification of this No. 2 model within the company’s historical rolling block lineup.
