Offered here is a classic American-made Lend-Lease rifle — a Savage-produced No.4 Mk I built for Britain during WWII and proudly stamped “U.S. PROPERTY.” Manufactured by Savage Arms under contract for the British war effort, these rifles represent a unique cross-section of American industry supporting Allied victory.
This example retains matching bolt and receiver numbers — a major plus for collectors — and features early Savage subcontracted “VNS” components from Viners Ltd. of Sheffield. The absence of modern import marks makes it even more desirable, as many of these rifles were later re-imported.
The later replacement stock gives it a clean, solid military appearance while preserving its historical character. Complete with a period-style sling and replica oiler, it presents as a ready-to-display and ready-to-shoot piece of WWII history.
The No.4 Mk I is renowned for its smooth cock-on-close action, generous 10-round capacity, and battle-proven reliability in .303 British. Whether you’re adding to a WWII collection, looking for a representative Lend-Lease rifle, or simply appreciate the history of the Lee-Enfield system, this Savage No.4 Mk I is a strong, honest example with real story behind it.
A true piece of Allied history — built in America, carried in Britain.
