Description:
The Baker Gun Co. Model 1897 is a 16-gauge hammer-fired side-by-side shotgun featuring 22-inch Damascus steel barrels. Serial number 32279. It uses exposed hammers and a double-trigger configuration typical of the period. The barrels have been heavily cleaned to bare metal, showing two dents on the right barrel. The receiver metal has also been cleaned to a light patina consistent with age and use. Overall length measures approximately 38¼ inches, with a length of pull of 14 inches.

The checkered walnut forearm shows heavy dings and finish wear, and the ebony tip is missing. The buttstock, also walnut, is in fair to good condition with visible wear and handling marks. A Bakelite butt plate is fitted, chipped at the toe. The bores are described as fair. Mechanically, the action does not function correctly; the right hammer fails to cock.

This firearm is used and exhibits signs of age and wear consistent with its antique status.
No accessories or additional components are included beyond the shotgun itself. The piece retains its original double-barrel layout and period-style furniture. It reflects the typical construction features of Baker Gun Co. shotguns from the late 19th century, including Damascus barrels, dual hammers, and a checkered walnut stock set.
