Description:
The Manhattan American Standard Co Hero is a .38 caliber single-shot percussion pistol configured for black powder use. It features a 2-inch round barrel and a spur trigger design. The firearm was manufactured without sights and built on a brass frame typical of mid-19th-century pocket pistols. The barrel, hammer, and trigger show an aged gray patina consistent with antique metal surfaces. Grips are smooth wood in a bird’s head profile fitted to the frame.

This pistol is used and presents as an antique percussion firearm with non-functional action. The brass frame retains its form and exhibits surface wear appropriate for age. The smooth bore is darkened from oxidation and residue accumulation over time. The wood grips remain intact with no cracks or chips noted, maintaining their original contour. No serial number markings are present on the frame or barrel, which aligns with early production practices of similar models.

No accessories or additional components accompany the pistol. The piece consists solely of the brass-framed body, steel barrel assembly, percussion hammer, and original wooden grips. Overall configuration and finish reflect the period design of compact single-shot percussion arms produced by Manhattan American Standard Co in .38 caliber.
