Description: ***** CABIN FEVER SPECIAL - FREE SHIPPING ***** Colt Model 1860 .44 caliber percussion revolver, 8" barrel, 6-shot rebated cylinder, walnut grips, steel back strap, brass trigger guard, blued and case hardened finish. This revolver has mixed serial numbers and a large "US" stamped on the brass trigger guard. Immediately after the Civil War was over, a few 1860 Army revolvers were arsenal-refinished with no regard to keeping the serial numbered pieces together, and assembled at random, then marked with the "US" and issued to the 9th and 10th US Cavalry troops when they were formed in 1866 for the early Indian Wars period, the all-black units dubbed the "Buffalo Soldiers" by the Native Americans. Not many of these examples exist. The following numbers appear on this revolver: frame 71244, barrel 102390, trigger guard 112231, grip strap 26123, wedge unnumbered, no number remainging on cylinder. CONDITION: Barrel retains 75% of the deep arsenal reblue, with most of the barrel address present but soft. Loading lever also 75% of the deep arsenal reblue (was original case-hardened when first built). Frame retains 65% bright case colors with sharp screw heads and just about all the blue on the screws. Back strap, trigger guard, and grip strap exhibit 50% original plating. Walnut grips are slightly undersized and no longer retain any traces of cartouches. Action is crisp and tight, strong hammer spring, locking solidly at half cock and full cock. Cylinder indexes perfectly every time on every chamber and does not have any slop or play. The bore has very sharp rifling and very little pitting. All nipples are intact and undamaged. There is very slight play at the barrel/receiver junction. Grades NRA Antique Very Good. This is a scarce variation of the 1860 Army that every Colt and Civil War collector should have in his or her collection. TERMS: Antique so it can ship directly to you at the address of your choice. New York State buyers must have the item ship to an FFL dealer only, no C&R, no exceptions. 3 day non-firing inspection. Buyer pays return shipping.
