Winchester Model 94 SRC in caliber 30 WCF aka 30-30, one of the most popular deer hunting calibers Winchester produced and one of my personal favorites, serial number 982570 indicates 1926 production, standard saddle ring carbine with 20" round barrel, full magazine, steel carbine butt, plain walnut stocks, plain trigger, blued finish, post front sight, and carbine ladder rear sight marked "0" to "20". Tecnically this is a special-order carbine as the saddle ring started phasing out around 1920 in favor of the "Eastern Carbine" type receiver with no saddle ring, so a ring had to be ordered if desired.
CONDITION: Overall barrel and mag tube bluing 75%, having turned a fine aged blue/plum mix with a small wear area on the mag tube that is now more brown than the rest of the finish. Receiver has turned to plum with 60% coverage and signs of a long-removed tang peep sight on the upper tang. Stocks are sound with no splits or cracks, never sanded or refinished, still tight and proud, having that beautiful reddish Winchester tint and exhibiting light usage marks only, the fore arm having an inch-long worn sliver missing on the left side at the mid-point. Action is crisp, tight and sharp, with a properly working half cock safety. Bore is bright and shiny with sharp rifling, rated at a 9.5 of 10. This is an excellent Model 94 carbine that will gain value over time as Model 94 prices are continually skyrocketing, and it should make a fun shooter/hunter as well!
