Description:
This Colt Python chambered in .357 Magnum produced circa 1966, represents a premier example of Colt's first generation revolvers during the height of its craftsmanship era. This double-action/single-action handgun features a robust I-frame construction with a ventilated rib barrel, full underlug (often hollow in early to mid 1960s specimens for distinctive balance), adjustable rear sights, and a ramped front sight, all contributing to exceptional accuracy and a tight cylinder lockup. Finished in the iconic high polish Royal Blue, it typically includes checkered walnut grips with Colt medallions, and delivers renowned smoothness in trigger pull, making it highly regarded for both target shooting and duty use while chambered for the powerful .357 Magnum cartridge (compatible with .38 Special). Early 1960s models like those from 1966 are prized by collectors for their meticulous hand-fitting and superior fit/finish compared to later production runs. This revolver is in very good condition.
