Description: ***** CABIN FEVER SPECIAL - FREE SHIPPING ***** Very High Condition Colt Model 1851 Navy, serial number 130653 made near the end of 1862 and thus made during the Civil War, 7.5" octagon barrel, 6-shot cylinder with Naval Engagement scene, .36 caliber percussion, walnut grips, blued and case hardened finish, silver-plated brass trigger guard and backstrap/gripstrap, single action revolver. CONDITION: Receiver retains 90% bright original case hardening with the loss coming on the recoil shields due to fading. Barrel retains 25% bright original blue with the balance drifted to a smooth plum. Loading lever retains 90% bright original case hardening with the loss from fading at the forward end toward the latch. Original walnut grips retain 99% original varnish with just a couple of nicks and dings. Silver plate has worn off the back strap but remains on the grip bottom and on the trigger guard, having tarnished to a darker silver in most locations. Cylinder retains 98% cylinder scene and 96% bright original blue with bluing loss due to drag marks from cycling the action and a small ding in the word "COLTS" on the cylinder patent line. All other markings are razor-sharp. All 6 nipples are original, intact and undamaged. All serial numbers match in whole or in part including the loading lever and wedge. Action is super crisp and tight with very strong hammer spring and solid lock up at half cock and full cock, no wobble or play, indexing perfectly every time the hammer is cocked. Loading lever latch snaps into place very strongly. Bore is a 9.5 of 10, very bright with sharp rifling and just a hint of black powder fouling. This revolver was used very little and wear indicates it was laying in a case but no case or accessories came with it and none are included. Also of note is the "E" factory-stamped by all the visible serial numbers. Per the book "Colt 1851 and 1861 Navies & Conversions" by Robert M. Jordan and Don W. Geri, this revolver was destined for shipment to England as an Export piece - see last picture in the listing regarding the Group 5 Export 4th Model Navies, which was taken from page 202. Grades NRA Antique Fine and is a stunning piece from the Civil War Era that will be the highlight of any collection.
