Description:
Fact: Unique and unusual Merkel 1620 16g/20g Combination factory two-barrel set in the original Merkel two-barrel case. Both barrels are 28". The 16g is 2 3/4", IC-Mod and 5.15lbs. The 20g is 3", IC-Mod and 6.1lbs. The 16g is marked # 1 and the 20g is marked # 2. Barrels are each marked on the raised rib extension as well as on the forend iron, with all other markings and proofs on the water table etc. This 1620 Combo factory set, manufactured in 2001, was the 19th imported, and engraved as such on the top ribs. Totally orignal set in 90%+ condition.
Extra: purchased this 1620 Combo from the original buyer who hardly used it and shot approximately 3-4 boxes of 16g lead #7 1/2 and 2-3 boxes of 20g lead #7 1/2 on a multi-day preserve shoot in 2018, and have not shot the gun since; it has been sitting in my basement cabinet untouched. While the gun is not even broken-in yet, it does show normal handling wear in general, from sitting, and on the case as expected. Overall, the gun and case are tight & right, and definitely 90%+. It is steel-safe with Krupp barrels, just in case.... The forward trigger fires the right IC, the rear trigger fires the left Mod. The only reasons for selling are because do not hunt anymore and shoot a well-used Merkel 20g and an old Browning 16g for clays....no reason to bugger this one up. For a high-end but completely useable field gun, with 2 gauges, trigger selectivity, and travel optionality, I don't think this special combo set can be beat.

There are plenty of resources out there like earlier Merkel import catalogs, pdf's, brochures, dedicated forums, and the current Merkel site, and their US importer, to verify valuation, actual experience and the availability of what it would take to acquire a new or new/OS Combo shotgun set like this one.
