FRANCHI AL-48 (LUIGI FRANCHI BRESCIA) 12 GAUGE, 28" BARREL — VERY GOOD CONDITION The Franchi AL-48 (often marked "Luigi Franchi Brescia") is one of Italy's most iconic semi-automatic shotguns, renowned for its lightweight long-recoil action, lively handling, and classic field performance. This example, chambered in 12 gauge and fitted with the correct 28-inch barrel configuration, reflects the qualities that made the AL-48 a favorite among upland hunters for decades. This shotgun balances beautifully thanks to its slim profile and aluminum-receiver design, delivering fast mounts and smooth follow-through in the field. The long-recoil operation—borrowed from John Browning's legendary Auto-5 system—keeps recoil surprisingly soft while maintaining excellent reliability across field loads. The steel barrel shows clean bores, the action cycles properly, and the gun retains tight mechanical integrity throughout. Condition is very good, showing light and honest field handling consistent with a well-maintained vintage Italian semi-auto. The walnut stock offers traditional lines with solid checkering, and all controls function smoothly, including the bolt, safety, and carrier.
