Offered is a Smith & Wesson .38 Double Action top-break revolver chambered in .38 S&W with a 4-inch barrel. This is an antique-era revolver from the late 19th century and represents one of Smith & Wesson’s classic top-break double action designs.
This example features its original nickel finish, fluted cylinder, fixed rear notch sight, and fixed front blade sight. The revolver retains honest period patina while maintaining strong mechanical integrity. The nickel appears original and consistent with age.
Mechanically, the revolver is in time and locks up tight. The action functions properly in double action, and the cylinder indexes correctly. These mechanical characteristics are important on early top-break revolvers and add confidence for collectors seeking a solid example.
The revolver is fitted with period-style grips and is accompanied by a leather belt holster. The holster shows age and use but complements the revolver well for display or collection purposes.
