Description: Belgian-made Browning Olympian Grade bolt-action rifle chambered in .458 Winchester Magnum. Manufactured in 1970 at FN in Liège, Belgium during Browning’s golden era of high-grade production. Serial No. 55963L70. The 24-inch medium weight round barrel is fitted with factory open sights and retains correct factory markings. Foliate scroll engraving is present at the breech end of the barrel. The French gray finished action is engraved with matching scroll on the sidewalls and bridge. Lilly Cortis and Lilly Lambert were recognized Belgian master engravers associated with Browning’s elite production in Liège. Signed wildlife scenes in large-bore chamberings are increasingly desirable among collectors. The receiver ring is engraved with African game scenes: a trumpeting elephant on the left and a running rhinoceros on the right. Both scenes are signed “L. Cortis” (only visible when metal removed from stock). The bottom metal with hinged floorplate is engraved with matching scroll surrounding a charging buffalo on the flooplate and head of a roaring lion on trigger guard bow. Buffalo is signed "L. Lambert" and lion is signed "L. Cortis."    Stock & Condition Highly figured Claro walnut stock in classic Olympian configuration with fancy patten closely spaced checkering at grip and around forend is flanked by relief carved acanthus scroll and stippling. A gold diamon is on bottom of grip cap. The wood presents in near-perfect condition — an uncommon attribute in a .458 Winchester Magnum example. Metal finish remains strong and original. Engraving is crisp and sharply defined. Bore is bright with strong rifling.
