Manufacturer Details
Hopkins & Allen: Based in Norwich, Connecticut, this company was one of the largest producers of spur trigger revolvers during the post-Civil War era. They were known for using a variety of "trade names" on their products, including Challenge, Ranger, Dictator, and Czar.
Design and Features: The Challenge No. 1 is a .22 caliber rimfire, single-action revolver with a 7-shot capacity. It features a "spur trigger," where the trigger is protected by a metal extension of the frame rather than a traditional trigger guard

The Hopkins & Allen Challenge No 1 This model produced around 1870s-1880
Condition: 2 ¼” . Round barrel with a good bore showing areas of light oxidation, very minor spot pin-pitting and very strong rifling. The metal of the revolver still retains most of the original nickel finish with some minor scratches, handling marks, freckling and light edge wear. The original factory Walnut grips are in excellent condition with just minor handling marks. The top markings remain crisp and legible.
Mechanically the revolver appears to work very well in single action with very good timing, lock-up has just a bit of cylinder play. Hammer holds nicely in half and full-cock position.
The current condition of the item listed has been described to the best of my ability . Please examine the photos , text thoroughly and make sure to ask any and all questions. Overall, this Hopkins & Allen spur trigger revolver is an excellent example of a rare model and historically significant firearm from the late 19th century.
