Description: The Eddy Stone 1917 Rifle, also known as the M1917 Enfield, is an American modification and production of the British .303-inch Pattern 1914 Enfield rifle. It was developed and manufactured during the period 1917–1918 and served as the main rifle used by the American Expeditionary Forces in Europe during World War I. The rifle was designed to fire the .30-06 Springfield cartridge and was produced in the United States under contract to the British government. The rifle's design was influenced by the Mauser system and included features such as a front locking, dual lug bolt action and a new powerful rimless .276 Enfield cartridge. The M1917 Enfield was widely used by American soldiers and continued in service with both British and American forces through the early days of the Second World War.
