Offered for sale this week is a 1915 produced Colt M1911 US Property .45 Auto. This pistol was shipped to Springfield Armory April 12th 1915. Not many pistols were shipped from Colts to the US Government in 1915 making this quite a difficult hole to fill in a .45 auto collection. This example presents very well but someone has touched it up with a hot dip type bluing, probably to try to cover up bluing loss on the front strap is my guess. The metal surfaces all look great and traces of original finish are still evident in certain areas. The smoky blue small parts are all original finish. The small parts from this timeframe are quite unique and very hard to find. The barrel is a period correct vertical P and H proofed variation with a mint bore. The magazine is correct and excellent original finish two tone lanyard loop. 1915 was the last year for looped mags so this one is proper for the SN. Overall a decent example of a 1915 M1911 that is priced to sell and will be a great place holder until a better example presents itself.
