"Serial no. 1428c. Manufactured in 1940 by Steyr under the “660" wartime code, chambered in 8mm,24"" round barrel. The bore is bright and shiny with strong, well-defined rifling noted throughout. Serial numbers are matching and the rifle has been expertly refinished, presenting very well overall. Waffenamt acceptance markings remain visible. The stock is very good with sharp cartouches noted. Early-war Steyr-produced K98 rifles bearing the “660" code are far less commonly encountered than later Steyr markings, making matching examples particularly scarce and desirable to collectors. The action is smooth, mechanically sound, and functions correctly.
