20GA Serial # 11670 B.E. Chaplin matched pair of sidelock, self-opening ejector side-by-side shotguns LH. Gun No. 1:2¾-inch chambers. Choked full and improved modified. Nine-pin sidelock with cocking indicators and striker discs. Self-opening mechanism. Case-colored sidelock action with beautiful scroll engraving. Gold inlaid “SAFE” and No. “1” on takedown lever and top rib, with matching gold-inlaid serial number on trigger guard tang. Rib marked “B.E. Chaplin, 6 Southgate Street, Winchester.” Single bead front sight. Case-colored triggers. Checkered walnut straight grip stock with carved teardrops, nicely figured wood, blank oval initial in toe line. Cast-on for the left shoulder. Gun No. 2:Identical configuration and measurements to Gun No. 1.Both guns housed in an oak and leather travel case with oil bottle, two pairs of snap caps, and cleaning equipment.
